Flea Control on Dogs

This is a follow-up to recent guides on this subject. Over recent years, the vets have cornered the market for effective flea treatments, just as they have done for worming compounds. The only really effective method of killing fleas on dogs is by using Frontline spray. As this is only available from the vets, it is very expensive. As the owner of 30 large dogs, this is always a sore point with me. However, there is some good news. Frontline Spot-On is now available from non-veterinary sources, and some very competitive prices can be obtained. Adverts appear regularly in the weekly dog papers (Dog World and Our Dogs) and may even be available through ebay. I have found one application of the drops applied to the back of the dog's neck lasts several months, and the overall cost of keeping fleas under control has been considerably reduced.
