Motorcycle Alarms

This is a little bit of advice which may save you money.

If you're considering an alarm for your bike, make sure it is Thatcham approved. Quiz the supplier for the Thatcham part number and the classification (C1, C2 etc.,) If they can't (or won't) provide it, then save your money for a real one. If they give you a part number, you can check it on Thatcham's website, and you can download a .pdf file which has all the approved alarms listed.

Bear in mind, "UKAS Approved" , "ISO 9000", "CE Approved" and other titles they give them are MEANINGLESS! Without Thatcham approval you won't get a reduction on your insurance.

If you just want one for your own peace of mind, then fine, but remember, you get what you pay for, and, as always, CAVEAT EMPTOR! Buyer, Beware!
