Cds-Buying Compilation CD's containing 60's/70's Music

This is a rough guidefor buying Compilation Cd's from eBay sellers who include selling music of generally the 60's or 70's.

If your knowledge of this super period of music is pretty good, then no doubt you'll be sifting through all the eBay listings for certain records that you remember and like from this era. However I must warn buyers that there are quite a few Cd's around that aren't quite what you think they might be!.Often listings with- for example-no details in the 'label' catagory etc,and also that appear to be a bargain -often aren't .Few sellers will mention that the recordings on the Cd that they are selling are Re-Recordings (although this is usuallystated on the Cd insert) .These recordings are more often than not' inferior' performances from the artists and groups, andhavebeen recorded by the original artists (or some of them!) many years (often too many!)after they were famous. Some of the performances can be dire!,some can be passable. However it won't take you too long to realize when you're playing the Cd that it isn't quite the version you remember hearing all those years ago!. My advice is-be careful when looking for oldies -see if the seller mentions the Cd label -if it's one of the well known big company ones, then the recordings will be the original. If the word 'Remastered' appears -Yes!- originals. There are some good small companies that issue original material, however if in any doubt do email the seller and ask if they are the original recordings. In general the old saying 'you get what you pay for' does apply, although there are still bargains to be had at good prices.

if you feel this guide was helpful, please tick the 'yes' box - this way more people will get to see the guide.
