Fake Louis Vuitton

This guide isn't going to give you all the information you need, however if you combine many guides together you will have lots of fantastic advice. I own several Louis Vuitton items all bought at the Louis Vuitton store in Selfridges, Manchester.

To start, in my opinion you should never buy designer goods from e-bay, just for the simple fact that you miss out on purchasing it in an official store. Just think, you can browse the entire collection and have your name on the database along with having the original box and bags. Also the receipt will have your name and address on it.

However, some may want to take the risk and use e-bay so look out for these important factors:

As everybody else says, you cannot buy designer goods for much less than their retail value.
Visit the Louis Vuitton website and study the item in question: there are detailed descriptions that will help you on your way along with pictures. Check exact measurements on the website and make sure you are being offered a bag that complies to this. Check if your item should come with a padlock, some don't and fakes may have them.
All Louis Vuitton bags are made from one piece of canvas and the reverse of your bag should always have the LV facing upwards. Check for neat stitching, the quality of the leather (should always mature to a darker honey colouron the handles and be supple to touch), extras such as zips, buckles, studs (is there the right amount?), padlocks (which should always have 2 keys with a matching code on). They should always be brass and of an ample weight. There should also be a date code on the inside of the bag, not the catalogue number though(for Speedy's under the pocket and on the handle attatchment). Is the pattern too big/ small, wonky or spilling into the seem? Are straps in the right position and long/ short enough? Is the 'Made in Paris' in the right font?
Try to buy an item with a receipt, sometimes these can also be fake but it adds security.
Check for 'My Poupette' approved sellers and that they are actually approved.
Try to find out why the seller has the bag and why they are selling it. Sometimes people lie but I find it's more believable when people can give a reason for selling such an expensive and most probably gorgeous item. Also, why are they selling 'brand new' items that have never been used for miniscule prices.
Don't believe people who says the item is 'one of a kind' or that they have the last one's ever made.
Check their other items and history: if they are selling many of the same kind they are fake. Also check the official website to see if this particular item exists.
Make sure you get dust bags, care cards, hopefully the box and/or bag it came in and most definately the authenticity card which shouldn't be attached to the bag. However, sadly most fakes do come with all of these. Don't buy a bag with an authentic leather patch on it, they don't exist.
Beware of pictures and that they are showing the exact bag you will recieve, authentic items will usually have many pictures from all angles. Ask for more pictures and specify which parts you wish to look at in more detail. Ask questions if you are unsure.
Don't buy from sellers who persist in spelling it 'Luis Vuitton'. They should also know the correct name, design and colour of the item.
Maybe you should consider buying a second-hand or used item that shows the signiture signs of wear.

Enjoy purchasing a beautiful new item but be careful, people will take your money for their fakes and not think twice about it. Fake bags are illegal and cause genuine items to go up in price.Good luck!
